1、 Brief introduction

Lead acid battery (VRLA) is a kind of battery whose electrode is mainly made of lead and its oxide and electrolyte is sulfuric acid solution. In the discharge state, the main component of positive electrode is lead dioxide, and the main component of negative electrode is lead; in the charge state, the main component of positive and negative electrode is lead sulfate.

2、 The production

Lead is one of the important raw materials for lead-acid batteries. The continuous increase of lead production in China provides a guarantee for the development of lead-acid batteries. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, China's lead production in 2020 was 6.443 million tons, up 11.14% year-on-year from 5.797 million tons in 2019.

With the continuous development and progress of industry and technology, the structure design, production equipment, manufacturing method, cycle mode, active material, support structure, colloidal electrolyte, inactive parts (such as separator, battery shell and sealing material) and charging method of lead-acid battery are constantly improved.

In 2020, China's lead-acid battery production will reach 227.356 million KVAh, a year-on-year increase of 12.28% compared with that of 202.486 million KVAh in 2019.

3、 Import and export trade

China is not only the largest producer of lead-acid batteries, but also the largest exporter of lead-acid batteries. In 2020, China's export quantity of lead-acid batteries will be 169 million, which is 02 million less than that in 2019; the import quantity will be 06 million, which is 03 million less than that in 2019.

Zhejiang, Guangdong and Jiangsu are the main export places of lead-acid batteries in China. In 2020, the export quantity of lead-acid batteries in Zhejiang, Guangdong and Jiangsu will be 30.884 million, 28.692 million and 28.165 million, and the export amount will be US $556 million, US $408 million and US $467 million.

Shanghai, Guangdong and Jiangsu are the main importers of lead-acid batteries in China. In 2020, the import quantity of lead-acid batteries in Shanghai, Guangdong and Jiangsu will be 2.7867 million, 1.6646 million and 0.5718 million respectively, and the import amount will be 36 million US dollars, 45 million US dollars and 20 million US dollars.

China's lead-acid batteries are mainly exported to India, the United States, Vietnam and other regions. In 2020, China's lead-acid batteries will be exported to India 23.3663 million, with an export value of 70 million US dollars; to the United States 10.1459 million, with an export value of 286 million US dollars; to Vietnam 7.8474 million, with an export value of 125 million US dollars.

China's lead-acid batteries are mainly imported from Vietnam, Germany and Taiwan. In 2020, China will import 3.7022 million, 6111 million and 5084 million lead-acid batteries from Vietnam, Germany and Taiwan respectively, with the import amount of 25 million US dollars, 70 million US dollars and 06 million US dollars.
